Important Dates & Procedures

Application &  Preliminary Materials due

Application: March 13, 2021 at 11:59PM

Preliminary video: March 20, 2021 at 11:59PM

Preliminary video will be submitted in the application or through email only. The preliminary applications will be limited to the first total 1000 applications. The online application form will be available between before March 13, 2021 at 11:59PM, and preliminary videos are due on March 20, 2021 at 11:59PM. 


Application fee is $65/entry and the deadline is March 13, 2021. For multiple entries, submit separate applications. 

 

A complete application includes the application form, fee, preliminary video, and sign of release indicating that by participating in HIMC’s auditions you agree to allow HIMC to use your picture, video, and name in its advertising (release form will be sent all chosen for finals round). Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applicants who are chosen for the final round will be notified by email and have their names and audition times posted at www.himc.us by 11:59 PM on March 31, 2021. 

 

A panel of judges will view applicant videos and select those whom they feel would best represent HIMC. 

Finals Round

April 3, 2021

  1. The Finals will be held on April 3, 2021, from 2 PM (CST). The finals will be an online competition featuring the musicians chosen from the preliminary round.

  2. All finalists will join the Zoom meeting (the link will be provided) to livestream their performance to the judges. 

  3. The finalists have the option to record their performance by themselves (advice: choose a setting with good room acoustics and lighting) or perform in a recording studio. Houston applicants will be eligible to record at the Vivace International School of Music. Details for applicants from other cities TBA. 

  4. Performances will be judged on musicianship, stage presence, and audience appeal. The judges’ decision will be final. Judges will provide comments.

  5. The performance video link needs to be sent to cwu@himc.us and office@MusicHouston.org before 11:59 pm on April 3rd.

  6. All applicants, sponsors and audience with tickets will receive the email for the vote of Audience Prize. 

  7. Results from the final round will be posted at www.himc.us before 11:59 PM on April 10, 2021.

Winner's Concert

April 17, 2021

All winners, including honorable mentions can use their perform videos in the finals for the online Winners Concert on April 17, 2021. Or please send your preferred video link to cwu@himc.us and office@MusicHouston.org before 11:59 PM April 12.

Outreach Concert

August 21, 2021

2:30 PM CST

At the Outreach Concert on August 21, 2021, all winners will perform their newly recorded pieces in an online, Youtube livestream on Music Houston's Youtube channel. Information on HIMC 2022 will be released at the end of the concert.
